    Unofficial Herdr fork prerelease built from d58ea6f52b13a327a262a6fc92f40f6ceaf474b1, rebased on upstream published preview preview-2026-09-29-8e78f929d8f0. This is not an upstream Herdr release.

    Changes

    • Fixes offline remote machine collapse: a connection diagnostic no longer consumes clicks across the entire machine heading. Click the heading to collapse or expand its cached workspace list while disconnected; the colored right rail cap still opens the diagnostic.
    • Carries the custom compact sidebar, numbered herds, and linked-worktree ordering from the previous fork prerelease. Herd shortcuts remain prefix+, and prefix+.; switching herds does not switch the active pane.
    • Includes the upstream preview's escape-prefixed terminal key-binding fix.

    Install manually

    • Linux x86_64: download herdr-linux-x86_64, mark it executable, and run it from a separate path.
    • Windows x86_64: extract the whole herdr-windows-x86_64.zip into a separate directory and run herdr.exe there. Keep conpty/ beside it. No installed Herdr copy is replaced by this release.
    • Check downloads against SHA256SUMS. herdr update does not track this fork prerelease; no macOS or ARM build is included.

    Validation and limits

    The offline-collapse regression failed before the fix and passed afterward. All 317 client-shell tests passed (2 ignored). Native and Windows x64 Clippy, docs contracts, maintenance checks, and a live Linux release TUI check of the offline header and diagnostic action passed. The Windows ZIP passed package validation (PE architecture, static MSVC runtime, ConPTY files and notices) and ZIP integrity checks. Windows execution was not smoke-tested: the Windows test host was unreachable over SSH, and no local Windows runtime was available.

    The full just check did not pass: machine_api_recovers_a_stale_path_before_sending_a_mutation failed on a remote SSH connection error after 318 of 3908 tests had passed; the rest were canceled. This prerelease is experimental, not a green full-suite build.
